Brigadier General (Retd) Ali Zuhair has been appointed Managing Director of the Housing Development Corporation (HDC), replacing Mauroof Jameel, who has resigned.

The appointment was confirmed by the Privatisation and Corporatisation Board (PCB), which oversees senior leadership roles in state-owned enterprises. Zuhair previously served as Managing Director of the Road Development Corporation (RDC), where he was known for implementing major operational reforms.

With over 30 years in the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), Zuhair has held key posts including Commander of the Coast Guard and Chairman of the Army Welfare Company (SIWEC). His transition to public administration has focused on institutional restructuring and development.

Mauroof, who was appointed in December 2024, is credited with launching initiatives aimed at improving HDC’s performance and public image.
