The Ministry of Construction, Housing, and Infrastructure has issued registries to more than 2,300 recipients of land plots from Kaafu Gulhifalhu under the Government’s Binveriyaa Scheme.

According to the Ministry, a total of 2,319 registries have been handed over since distribution began on 12 July 2025.

Of the 2,438 plots allocated from Gulhifalhu, registries have been issued for 2,319, leaving 119 pending. 1,347 of the Gulhifalhu plots were transferred from Giraavaru Falhu.

The Gulhifalhu reclamation project, awarded to Dutch company Boskalis for MVR 2 billion, commenced in July 2024. While the initial land draw was carried out under the previous administration, the current Government has since revised the land-use plan for the island twice. A re-draw was held on 30 May this year, and registry issuance is now progressing under the updated plan.

Under the Binveriyaa Scheme, 9,031 plots were allocated across Hulhumalé Phase III, Gulhifalhu, and Giraavaru Falhu. However, reclamation of these areas was not completed by the previous administration. Since President Dr Mohamed Muizzu assumed office, reclamation works have been moving at a significantly accelerated pace.
