President assures equitable development for Villimalé

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring equitable development in Villimalé.
Speaking to residents during a visit to the island on Sunday, the President said all areas of Malé must receive equal attention and development and that Villimalé should not be neglected. He reiterated that his presidential pledges will be fulfilled and said additional development projects that were not originally promised will also be completed.
The President highlighted the planned 100-bed hospital as one of the most important projects for the island. He said funding for the hospital has already been secured and that procedural work is now nearing completion.
He also spoke about road development in Villimalé, stating that financing for the project has been secured. Preparatory work is underway to begin practical construction, which will include upgrades to water and sewerage services as requested by residents.
On sports development, the President said it is an important policy priority for the Government. He announced that work will begin next year on a sports complex with a seating capacity of 1,200 and facilities for all indoor sports. He added that the Villimalé football ground will be upgraded to meet FIFA standards.
As part of efforts to bring essential services closer to residents, the President also announced that a USD ATM will be installed in Villimalé by March next year.
