The National Library has received 3,911 donated items this year through public contributions and the Collection Act, the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts said. Donations include books, magazines, newspapers, flash cards and leaflets, with contributions from 40 authors and 26 organisations. The library’s collection now exceeds 46,250 books in Dhivehi, English, Arabic and other languages, alongside journals and historical documents. At a ceremony yesterday, author Mohamed Jameel donated copies of two of his books. Established in 1940, the National Library continues to modernise its services, expand branches nationwide and develop community libraries.
