First Lady Sajidha Mohamed attended the closing ceremony of the Women’s Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) Cup 2025 on Thursday evening, where she also watched the tournament’s final match between Kyrgyzstan and Maldives at the Maldives Centre for Social Education.

The First Lady presented the championship trophy and gold medals to Kyrgyzstan, who claimed the title with a 3–1 victory over the Maldives. She was accompanied during the presentation by CAVA President Mohamed Latheef. The Maldives finished as first runner-up, making it the fourth time the Maldivian women’s volleyball team secured a silver medal at an international volleyball tournament, while Bangladesh placed third in the CAVA Cup standings.

This year’s Women’s CAVA Cup brought together four participating national teams: Maldives, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Kyrgyzstan. The tournament officially opened in Malé City on 20 December and served as the region’s premier women’s volleyball championship for 2025.

The closing ceremony was also attended by the Minister of Sports, Fitness and Recreation, Abdulla Rafiu, along with cabinet ministers, senior Government officials and sports representatives.
