The National Election Complaints Bureau has been established to receive and address complaints related to the upcoming Local Council Elections and the Women’s Development Committee (WDC) elections.
The Elections Commission (EC) said the bureau has been set up to make it easier for citizens to submit election-related complaints and concerns, and to ensure that such issues are handled in a timely and efficient manner.
Complaint forms may be submitted via the bureau’s designated email address or at the counters of the Elections Commission. The forms are available on the Commission’s official website, at election centres and at Commission office counters. In addition, complaint forms can be obtained through designated focal points in cities, atolls and island councils, as well as through focal points established abroad.
The Elections Commission’s counters will be open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., except on Fridays, when counters will operate from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Polling for the local council and WDC elections is scheduled to take place on Saturday, 4 April 2026. The Commission said complaints will be accepted from the opening of polls until the announcement of provisional election results.
