The Maldives recorded its highest number of tourist arrivals in a single day on Sunday, with 10,253 visitors entering the country, according to the Ministry of Tourism and Environment.

The ministry said the figure marks a new daily record for the tourism sector, surpassing the previous high of 10,213 arrivals recorded on 11 February 2024. The latest data reflects continued momentum in visitor arrivals, following a record-breaking performance in the previous month.

According to the ministry’s latest update, a total of 235,041 tourists had visited the Maldives by 1 February 2026, representing a 4.8 per cent increase compared to the 224,358 arrivals recorded during the same period last year. The ministry also noted that this year marked the fastest pace at which the Maldives reached 200,000 tourist arrivals.

The ministry said arrivals have remained strong since the COVID-19 pandemic, with sustained growth across key source markets. China recorded the highest number of arrivals during the period, followed by Russia, with visitor numbers from China continuing to show steady growth.

The strong performance builds on last year’s results, when the Maldives welcomed a record 2.2 million tourists. The ministry said maintaining growth while managing capacity and service standards remains a priority as the tourism sector continues to expand.
