Austria's Non-Resident Ambassador to the Maldives, Dr Robert Zischg, presented his Letter of Credence to President Dr Mohamed Muizzu. President Dr Muizzu and Ambassador Dr Zischg later discussed cooperation in tourism, multilateral affairs, climate action, fisheries and scholarship opportunities for diplomatic training. Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Austria were established on 1 March 1978.

A traditional Haiykolhu procession, accompanied by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Drum and Trumpet Band, escorted the ambassador to the President's Office.
