Burkina Faso's Non-Resident Ambassador to the Maldives, Dr Désiré Boniface Some, presented his Letter of Credence to President Dr Mohamed Muizzu today. A traditional Haiykolhu procession, accompanied by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Drum and Trumpet Band, escorted the ambassador to the President's Office.

Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on 29 December 2011. President Dr Muizzu and Ambassador Some later discussed development cooperation, tourism, infrastructure, and fisheries. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation between the Maldives and Burkina Faso.
