The Non-Resident High Commissioner of Canada to the Maldives, Isabelle Marie Catherine Martin, has presented her credentials to President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation.

Following the credential ceremony, the President and the High Commissioner discussed cooperation in climate change adaptation, seaplane services, women and youth empowerment, and gender equality. Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Canada were established on 14 December 1981, while the High Commissioner was accorded a traditional Haiykolhu procession accompanied by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Drum and Trumpet Band before presenting her credentials.
