The 42nd Basic Police Training Course has commenced at the Addu City campus of the National College of Policing and Law Enforcement, marking the start of formal training for a new intake of police recruits.

The inauguration ceremony for the 17-week programme was officiated by Deputy Head of the National College of Policing and Law Enforcement, Assistant Commissioner of Police Mohamed Basheer. The ceremony was attended by senior officers, department heads, instructors, and staff of the institution.

A total of 158 recruits are enrolled in the current training batch, including 48 female officers and 110 male officers. The course, starting on February 15, is designed to equip new police officers with the foundational knowledge, skills, and professional standards required for service in the Maldives Police Service.

Training under the programme will cover core areas including physical fitness, operational safety and tactics, relevant laws and regulations, and principles of policing. The curriculum aims to prepare recruits for frontline duties while strengthening discipline, professionalism, and ethical conduct in law enforcement.
