The Ministry of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development has reiterated that the safety and well-being of Maldivian students abroad remain the Government’s highest priority, as conflict continues to escalate across parts of the Middle East.
In its statement, the Ministry confirmed that the situation is being closely monitored, with continuous coordination between the government, diplomatic missions, educational institutions, and relevant authorities. This effort is aimed at ensuring Maldivian students receive timely support and protection should conditions deteriorate further.
Recent reports highlight that explosions and military strikes have been witnessed in several Gulf states, including Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia, following intensified clashes between the US–Israel alliance and Iran. Retaliatory attacks have targeted US military bases in Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, and the UAE, while blasts have also been reported in Riyadh, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Doha, and Manama.
The Ministry stressed that it stands ready to take all necessary measures to safeguard Maldivian students during this volatile period, underscoring its commitment to their security and welfare.
