The Emirates Red Crescent has provided USD 40,780.44 (MVR 626,795.36) in Zakat al-Fitr assistance to support children under State care in the Maldives.

According to the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, the funds were handed over to the Ministry of Social and Family Development to assist children in state care, including those with special needs, in participating in Eid al-Fitr celebrations.

The assistance will be used to support several initiatives, including the purchase of Eid clothing, distribution of food packages, and the organisation of Iftar and Eid-related activities for children and families in need. The programmes will be conducted in Malé and the atolls.

The contribution was provided by the Emirates Red Crescent as part of its Zakat al-Fitr donations, reflecting ongoing humanitarian cooperation between the Maldives and the United Arab Emirates.

The Ministry of Social and Family Development also expressed appreciation to the UAE government, the Emirates Red Crescent and the Ministry of Islamic Affairs for the assistance aimed at supporting vulnerable children and families in the Maldives.
