President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has called for unity, compassion and steadfast faith as Maldivians celebrate Eid al-Fitr, while reaffirming the nation’s solidarity with Muslims facing hardship worldwide.

In his message on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, the President highlighted that this year’s celebrations come amid ongoing suffering in parts of the Islamic world, particularly in Palestine and the wider Middle East. He conveyed prayers for peace, security and relief for affected communities, noting that the Maldives stands firmly alongside them during this difficult time.

He underscored that Eid is rooted in gratitude to Almighty Allah and should be observed through kindness, generosity and strengthened community ties. The President said the occasion offers an opportunity to reinforce both individual faith and collective harmony.

Reflecting on the conclusion of Ramadan, he urged the public to uphold the values cultivated during the holy month, including patience, compassion and righteous conduct. He also encouraged continued devotion through acts of worship, stressing the importance of sustaining these practices beyond Ramadan.

Conveying Eid greetings via his official X account, President Dr Muizzu described Eid as a special occasion deeply rooted in Islamic culture and long-standing Maldivian traditions, cherished by the Maldivian people for generations.

He added that both Eids observed by Muslims are among the most joyous occasions of the year for the Maldivian Islamic community. In this regard, the President expressed hope that the traditions associated with Eid, passed down through generations, would be preserved and enriched, ensuring that Eid remains a meaningful symbol of unity and national identity among Maldivians.
