Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure Dr Abdulla Muththalib on Monday inaugurated two major infrastructure projects in Thinadhoo City, marking the start of the third phase of road development and the construction of 50 housing units.

The road development project, awarded to the Road Development Corporation (RDC), will see asphalt laid on 50 roads covering 19.3 kilometres. The works also include the installation of a stormwater drainage system, with completion expected within 1,440 days.

At the same time, construction has begun on 50 three-bedroom housing units under a project contracted to Swift Engineering Private Limited. The housing units are scheduled to be completed within 450 days.

Meanwhile, the Ministry confirmed that the evaluation process is ongoing for an additional 200 housing units in Thinadhoo. A total of 1,022 applications were submitted, and a list of eligible recipients will be announced once the review process is completed.
