The National Hotels and Guesthouse Association of Maldives, in collaboration with Visit Maldives and the Maldives Association of Travel Agents & Tour Operators, has announced a tourism roadshow targeting Southeast Asian markets.
The initiative, titled the “I AM Maldives Southeast Asia Roadshow”, is scheduled to take place in Hong Kong on 13 April and in Kuala Lumpur on 15 April 2026.
Organisers stated that the roadshow will feature 20 Maldivian tourism-related companies, with more than 50 participants representing guesthouses, resorts, hotels, and travel agencies. Over 120 travel trade professionals, including tour operators and travel agents, are expected to attend the events across both cities.
The initiative is aimed at strengthening engagement with Southeast Asian markets and facilitating partnerships between Maldivian tourism businesses and international travel trade representatives.
Statistics cited by the organisers indicate that Greater China, including Hong Kong, recorded 706,033 tourist arrivals to the Maldives in 2025, reflecting a 12.1 per cent increase compared to the previous year. Malaysia recorded 24,847 visitors, marking a 25.2 per cent increase from 19,846 in 2024. Overall, Southeast Asia accounted for 72,128 visitors to the Maldives, representing 6 percent growth and a 3.2 per cent share of total arrivals.
