The National Awards Committee has announced that nominations for the 2026 National Award for Public Service will open on Wednesday, 6 May, with the award criteria to be published in the Government Gazette.

Nominations will be accepted until 11 June and must be submitted through the President’s Office’s online portal.

The National Award for Public Service is a prestigious honour conferred by the President, recognising individuals who have dedicated more than 35 years of service to the Maldivian State and made significant contributions to the development of their respective institutions.

Recipients of the award will receive a shield, a badge of honour, and a commemorative certificate.

In 2025, a total of 94 recipients were honoured on Independence Day for completing over 40 years of service to the State. A further 97 recipients were recognised on Republic Day for serving between 35 and 39 years.
