The High Commissioner of the Republic of Fiji to the Maldives, Jagannath Sami, has presented his credentials to President Dr Mohamed Muizzu. The President and the High Commissioner reaffirmed the longstanding ties between the Maldives and Fiji and discussed expanding cooperation in tourism, climate action and sustainable development, while expressing their commitment to strengthening collaboration in regional and international forums for mutual benefit.

Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Fiji were established on 15 March 1988. Before presenting his credentials, High Commissioner Sami was accorded a traditional Haiykolhu procession accompanied by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Drum and Trumpet Band.
