The Non-Resident Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Somalia to the Maldives, Dr Abdullahi Mohammed Odowa, has presented his credentials to President Dr Mohamed Muizzu at a ceremony held at the President's Office today. The ambassador was escorted to the ceremony in a traditional Haiykolhu procession accompanied by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Drum and Trumpet Band.

Following the ceremony, President Dr Muizzu and Ambassador Dr Odowa discussed expanding bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest and exchanged views on promoting peace and security in the Indian Ocean. Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Somalia were established on 10 March 1988.
