President voices optimism on future Maldives-Sri Lanka partnership

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has expressed optimism over the future of Maldives–Sri Lanka relations following the conclusion of his State Visit to Sri Lanka.

In a message shared on X, the President described the visit as productive and reaffirmed his commitment to further strengthening the longstanding ties between the two countries. He also conveyed appreciation to the Sri Lankan government and people for the hospitality extended to him, First Lady Sajidha Mohamed and the Maldivian delegation.

The President noted that discussions held with Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Disanayaka and Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya had strengthened confidence in future cooperation between the two countries. He added that the engagements reflected a shared commitment to advancing initiatives that would benefit the people of both nations.

President Dr Muizzu and the First Lady departed Colombo following the conclusion of the visit, which was undertaken at the invitation of Sri Lankan President Disanayaka. The visit included a series of high-level meetings, official engagements and business-related events aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation.
