The People's National Congress has appointed Mohamed Lamaan as the party’s deputy secretary-general, with the appointment announced by the party on Tuesday. 

Lamaan previously served as an executive member of the board of directors of Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) and also held the post of deputy managing director at Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), bringing experience from several senior roles in state-owned enterprises.

The appointment comes following the recent designation of Moosa Fathuhee Adam as secretary-general of the party.
