President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has congratulated the Scout movement in the Maldives on its 70th anniversary, expressing appreciation for the generations of Scouts and leaders who have contributed to the country's development through voluntary service.
In a message shared on X, President Dr Muizzu extended his gratitude to the pioneers of Scouting in the Maldives and to all those who have helped sustain the movement over the past seven decades. He also recognised the contributions of Scouts who have provided service to the nation whenever needed, often without seeking any reward or compensation.
The President described the Scout movement as a source of national pride that has earned the trust and respect of the public. He noted that it remains one of the oldest and largest volunteer movements in the Maldives, with a presence across the country.
President Dr Muizzu said the movement has played an important role in teaching valuable life skills and positive values to young people, helping to build generations of resilient and capable citizens. He added that Scouting has strengthened connections between communities across the islands while also helping to foster ties between the Maldives and countries around the world.
Highlighting the country's continued development, President Dr Muizzu said he hopes the Scout movement will continue to expand its membership and strengthen participation in national service. He concluded by wishing the movement continued success and prosperity in the years ahead.
