President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has rejected claims that Vice President Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef is being removed from office, describing the allegations as false and politically motivated.

Responding to a question during a press conference held at the President's Office, the President said recent claims circulated by opposition figures regarding his visit to Singapore were untrue and placed rumours about the Vice President's dismissal in the same category.

Referring to the allegations, the President said attempts were being made to create political narratives through the spread of misinformation. He criticised what he described as increasingly desperate political tactics and said there was no truth to claims that the Vice President would be dismissed from his post.

The President also expressed concern over the state of political discourse in the Maldives, stating that false rumours were being spread by opposition figures and that some individuals who previously held senior positions in the State were among those promoting such claims.
