Minister of Defence and National Security Hassan Rasheed has inspected ongoing work by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) to complete the school building in Thaa Dhiyamigili, as construction enters its final stages.
During a visit to the island, the minister met MNDF personnel involved in the project and reviewed the latest progress of the work. He was accompanied by Chief of Defence Force Major General Ibrahim Hilmy, Commander of the MNDF Central Area Command Brigadier General Mohamed Ibrahim, and Commandant of the MNDF Service Corps Brigadier General Ismail Naseer.

The project is being carried out under the supervision of the Military Engineers unit of the MNDF Service Corps. Ministry stated that work currently underway includes construction of the roof structure, plastering and finishing of walls on the upper floors, and completion of toilet facilities within the building.
The ministry said inspections conducted after the project was handed over to MNDF identified damage to several pillars and columns, prompting additional repair and reinforcement work. The school building contains 10 classrooms across two floors.
The project was transferred to MNDF on March 31, when approximately 30 per cent of construction had been completed. The ministry said the remaining work is scheduled to be completed within 90 days, adding that support from the Dhiyamigili Island Council and residents has contributed to the progress of the project.
