Former Deputy Attorney General Uza Fathimath Dhiyana Saeed has described the achievement of 100 per cent compliance with proactive disclosure requirements by 16 Government institutions under the Right to Information (RTI) Act as a major step forward for transparency and good governance.
In a post shared on X, Uza Dhiyana said the milestone also represents an important constitutional achievement, as it demonstrates the fulfilment of the positive obligation attached to the fundamental right to information.
She noted that this aspect of the right to information is often overlooked by Governments, adding that the achievement marks a significant moment for constitutional and democratic governance.
Her remarks come as all Government ministries, the Attorney General's Office and the President's Office achieved 100 per cent compliance with the proactive disclosure requirements set out under the RTI Act as of 7 June 2026.
The RTI Act, which came into force in 2014, requires public institutions to proactively publish key information about their operations at least once a year. This includes details of their mandate, responsibilities, organisational structure, public services, complaint mechanisms and information relating to complaints received.
