The Elections Commission (EC) has announced that candidates contesting the Dhaalu Meedhoo Council presidential election will be given the opportunity to sign the final voters register on Tuesday.

The commission said the signing process will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on June 9 at the Elections Commission's Election Centre.

EC stated that candidates may attend in person or appoint a representative to sign the register on their behalf. Candidates authorising a representative must provide a signed letter along with a copy of their national identity card.

The commission said the authorisation letter must include the representative's full name, permanent address and identity card number. Representatives will also be required to present their original national identity card when signing the register.

The Meedhoo Council presidential election is being held as an additional round under the 2026 Local Council Elections.
