First Lady Sajidha Mohamed has honoured the kindness and generosity of blood donors, highlighting the profound impact their selfless contributions have on patients and families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
In a message shared on the occasion of World Blood Donor Day, the First Lady stated that behind every blood donation is a story of compassion and an act of humanity. She noted that for patients receiving critical care and the families standing beside them, a donor's contribution can represent the difference between fear and hope.
Emphasising the importance of voluntary blood donation, the First Lady said that saving lives does not always require grand gestures, adding that even a simple act of kindness can make a lasting difference in someone's life.
The First Lady also called for greater awareness of the shared responsibility of donating blood regularly and voluntarily.
World Blood Donor Day is observed annually on 14 June to raise awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products, while recognising the life-saving contributions of voluntary, unpaid blood donors around the world.
