President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has said the Government has finalised plans for the implementation of 2,645 development projects, including ongoing projects as well as those scheduled to be launched over the next two years.

Speaking at a ceremony in Dhaalu Meedhoo to celebrate the PNC's victory in the election for President of the Meedhoo Council, the President said the Administration had completed detailed planning for projects already under contract, projects due to be signed this year and projects scheduled for next year as part of efforts to fulfil Government pledges.

President Dr Muizzu noted that the conflict in the Middle East had created significant challenges in procuring and transporting construction materials to the Maldives, affecting both Government projects and private sector activities. However, he said many of those difficulties were now being addressed through measures taken by the Administration and assured that efforts to accelerate project implementation would continue.

He added that the Government recently finalised the implementation schedule for all planned projects during Cabinet discussions. The President said the 2,645 projects include those already under contract, projects due to be signed this year and projects planned for next year as part of efforts to fulfil the Administration's pledges. The plan also sets out project priorities, expenditure targets and timelines while outlining how State revenue will be managed alongside debt repayment obligations.

President Dr Muizzu said the projects would be carried out according to the approved schedule to prevent delays and ensure development commitments made to communities across the country are delivered. He added that the Government remains focused on maintaining the budget deficit at sustainable levels while continuing development work nationwide.
