The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) carried out 65 medical evacuations across the country over the past week, transferring patients requiring urgent medical care from one island to another.
The evacuations were conducted by MNDF Coast Guard squadrons and the sea ambulance service as part of ongoing emergency response operations.
The Coast Guard's First Squadron carried out the highest number of evacuations, completing 32 missions during the week. The Second Squadron conducted three evacuations, while the Third and Fourth Squadrons completed 14 and 15 evacuations respectively. In addition, Sea Ambulance E9-54 carried out one medical evacuation.
Providing emergency transport for patients to healthcare facilities across the Maldives remains one of the Coast Guard's key responsibilities, ensuring timely access to essential medical treatment for people in need.
