The Ministry of Fisheries, Agriculture and Ocean Resources has opened applications for the second intake of this year's Marine Hatchery Skills Development Programme, which aims to train individuals in reef fish hatchery techniques and develop skilled professionals for the sector.

The programme is conducted jointly by the Ministry and the Maldives Marine Research Institute (MMRI) to equip participants with the technical knowledge and practical skills required in marine fish hatchery operations, while creating more opportunities for those interested in the fisheries sector.

The 14-day course will run from 8 August to 20 August, with places available for 15 participants.

Interested applicants are required to complete the application form published in the Government Gazette and submit it together with a copy of their national identity card to the Maldives Marine Research Institute. Applications may also be submitted via email to [email protected].

The Ministry stated that if applications exceed the available 15 places, participants will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis based on the order in which completed applications are received.

Training will be conducted at Kaafu Maniyafushi, where accommodation and meals will be provided for participants. Transport between Malé and Maniyafushi will also be arranged by the organisers.
