The Hithadhoo Magistrate Court has ordered the closure of a house in Addu City, Hithadhoo, after it was found to have been used to facilitate drug use.

Police said the house, known as "Mylo City", has been ordered closed for 90 days from July 1 under the Drugs Act. The order is the second issued by the court to close premises used to facilitate drug use.

Police said the house was being used to provide facilities for drug use, including equipment used to consume drugs. The court order states that activities at the property posed a threat to public safety and created risks to the surrounding community.

Police also said the house had also been identified as a location where drugs were allegedly sold. In addition, the property and its surrounding area were allegedly linked to criminal activities, including assaults, robberies, and other offences committed by groups.

In December last year, the police arrested five people believed to be associated with the "Mylo" group. They are suspected of operating a drug trafficking network in Addu since 2017 and generating millions of rufiyaa through the illegal drug trade.

The closure follows similar action taken in Addu in recent months. Last month, a house in Maradhoo-Feydhoo was ordered closed after it was found to have been used to facilitate drug use. Another house in Hithadhoo was also ordered closed for 90 days over similar allegations.
