More than 2,500 party posts will be filled through the People's National Congress (PNC) constituency elections, the party has announced.
The announcement was made during a press conference held at the PNC headquarters by the party's Election Committee, where PNC Spokesperson Mohamed Firuzul Abdulla Khaleel provided the latest updates on the elections.
Firuzul said the elections will result in more than 2,500 officials being elected to represent the party across constituencies nationwide.
Voting will be held in 131 island constituencies. The voters' register for the election will be based on the list of PNC members registered with the Elections Commission.
The election is scheduled to take place on Saturday, with voting open only to members who were registered with the Elections Commission as PNC members by June 15.
Constituency presidents will be elected only in constituencies that are not represented by a PNC Member of Parliament. In constituencies represented by PNC MPs, the respective MPs will serve as constituency presidents.
The PNC has also announced that its National Congress will be held from September 15 to 18.
