Vessels berthed at Zone A of Malé North Harbour can now access water and electricity services following the completion of infrastructure works by the Maldives Ports Limited (MPL).
MPL said the utility network established for vessels berthed in Zone A has now been completed, allowing water and electricity services to be provided in the area.
Previously, vessels using the Zone A, located along Boduthakurufaanu Magu, did not have access to these services. Water and electricity were only available from the B Zone and the C Zone.
Following the completion of the second segment of the Boduthakurufaanu Magu Development Project and the reopening of the Malé North Harbour area, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu directed that services at the harbour be expanded to include water and electricity facilities in Zone A, In line with that directive, MPL began the required infrastructure works in March this year.
MPL said the new utility services will provide greater convenience for vessel operators using Malé North Harbour. The company said Zone A is now equipped to supply electricity to 48 vessels simultaneously, while 16 water supply points have also been installed in the area.
The company added that establishing the new utility network required extensive work by the Malé North Harbour team and other relevant departments within MPL.
