Vice President Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef has reaffirmed the Government's commitment to strengthening the dental sector by improving service quality and expanding access to specialised dental care across the Maldives.

He made the remarks while addressing the Golden Jubilee celebration of the Government Dental Services, held at Hotel Jen.

In his address, the Vice President said the Government remains focused on increasing investment in the dental sector and decentralising specialised dental services to ensure people across the atolls have better access to quality oral healthcare.

He noted that the Maldives has made significant progress in developing its dental workforce, with Maldivian specialists now serving in a wide range of specialised fields within the public health system.

The Vice President also encouraged dental professionals to embrace modern technology and innovation further to improve the standard of dental care in the country.

During the ceremony, he expressed appreciation to those who have contributed to the development of dental services over the past five decades, paying special tribute to Mohamed Saleem for his long-standing service to the nation's health sector.

As part of the event, the Vice President launched a commemorative publication documenting the history of the Government Dental Department and presented awards to pioneers and individuals who played a key role in establishing dental services in the Maldives.
