PNC Chairman and Speaker of Parliament Abdul Raheem Abdulla has said the party's Congress, scheduled for October, will establish a stronger connection between the PNC leadership and its members creating a structured system linking the party at island and national levels. He said the initiative is intended to address concerns over the relationship between party leaders and grassroots members, adding that the party's organisational reforms would ensure every island is directly connected to the PNC's leadership.

Speaker Abdul Raheem said around 3,000 people would be elected to various party positions through the ongoing constituency and steering committee elections, forming the foundation of the new structure. He added that the PNC aims to establish the necessary resources and open party offices on every inhabited island by the end of the year, with all organisational arrangements expected to be completed after the Congress concludes in October.
