The Government has decided not to hold this year's official Independence Day reception in ongoing efforts to reduce State expenditure.

The decision follows a similar approach taken last year, when the official Independence Day reception was also omitted as part of the Government's efforts to curb State spending.

The national Independence Day ceremony will still be held at 9:00 a.m. at the Maldives Centre for Social Education, with President Dr Mohamed Muizzu set to address the nation.
