The Maldives Police Service (MPS) has launched the first-ever “Blues Re-Training Programme 2026” aimed at strengthening officers’ technical knowledge, ethical standards, leadership skills and operational capabilities.

The five-day programme, which began on 18 July, is being conducted by the Centre for Public Safety and Security Studies at the National College of Policing and Law Enforcement.

MPS said the training is designed to familiarise officers with the evolving challenges of modern policing while supporting the development of a professional, accountable and citizen-focused police service.

The programme includes modules on internal ethics, digital transformation and artificial intelligence, operational policing, scenario-based training, case studies and team building. Officers will also develop skills in decision-making, problem-solving, communication and teamwork.

The first round of the programme is being attended by 98 police officers from the South Central Police Region, including officers between the ranks of Constable and Sub-Inspector of Police.

MPS said the initiative will support institutional development by equipping officers with the knowledge and skills needed to respond effectively to contemporary policing challenges.
