Consultation meetings with key stakeholders have begun to strengthen the National Anti-Corruption Strategy (NACS), aimed at preventing corruption and enhancing transparency and accountability across State institutions.
The consultation process is being conducted jointly by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). The meetings began today and will continue until Wednesday.
ACC said the consultations are intended to develop a comprehensive national framework for preventing corruption by ensuring the participation of all relevant institutions. Discussions on the first day focus on the strategy's key objectives, vision, and the practical measures required for its implementation.
The second day will centre on strengthening the participation of Government institutions, as well as discussions on public financial management, procurement, and improving governance in State-owned enterprises. The final day has been dedicated to private sector organisations and civil society, with discussions focusing on increasing public participation in anti-corruption efforts and addressing challenges related to fulfilling social responsibility.
ACC said the feedback and recommendations gathered during the consultations will be incorporated into the final National Anti-Corruption Strategy, with the aim of further strengthening efforts to combat corruption in the Maldives.
