Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB) has announced that it will prioritise ensuring ATMs remain operational during the upcoming New Year holidays, despite its branches and sales centres being closed for five consecutive days.

In a statement, the bank confirmed that all branches and sales centres will remain shut from Tuesday, December 31, 2024, to Saturday, January 4, 2025, reopening on Sunday, January 5, 2025. MIB emphasised that measures are in place to prevent disruptions to cash availability, recognising the heightened demand during the holiday period.

An MIB official highlighted the bank’s focus on maintaining uninterrupted access to cash during this period, noting that travel and medical emergencies often increase the need for readily available funds. The official stated that priority will be given to providing uninterrupted ATM services during the holiday. The bank has also assured that ATM maintenance and cash replenishment will continue as required throughout the closure.

MIB's extensive ATM network, trusted by a large number of Maldivians, spans 25 locations across Malé City and various islands, ensuring widespread accessibility.

The bank has also committed to offering e-banking and customer care services during the holidays, with the customer care centre reachable at 3325555.

Further strengthening its network, MIB recently inaugurated a new ATM centre on K. Thulusdhoo, providing residents and visitors with 24/7 access to essential banking services.

The newly launched ATM supports both cash deposits and withdrawals, is compatible with Visa and MasterCard debit and credit cards.

The inauguration ceremony, attended by MIB's Chief Digital Officer Mr Arefur Rahman Chowdary and the President and Vice President of the Thulusdhoo Island Council, marked a significant step in improving banking accessibility for the local community.

Speaking at the event, Mr Chowdary expressed enthusiasm for the launch, emphasising MIB's dedication to delivering reliable and secure banking solutions across the Maldives. He stated that the new ATM reflects MIB's commitment to serving underserved locations and ensuring financial inclusion.
