Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has announced significant progress in the renovation of the Izzudeen Jetty, with a substantial portion of the structure completed.

Construction of the roof is currently underway as part of the ongoing project.

The Izzudeen Jetty, a prominent landmark, holds cultural and functional significance, serving as an official Jetty frequented by both Maldivians and tourists. Renovation work on the Jetty commenced in May of last year, with the project receiving heightened attention due to public concern over delays in repairs.

MTCC officials highlighted the importance of addressing the delays, emphasising that the restoration efforts are being carried out with meticulous care to ensure quality and timely completion.

The lack of accessibility to the Jetty, which also serves as a tourist attraction, has been noted as an issue of concern. Despite its appeal to visitors, the site has not been made available for public viewing during the renovation process.

To expedite the completion of the project, construction work is being carried out around the clock in two shifts, operating 24 hours a day.
