Male’ Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has successfully completed a major project to establish water and sewerage systems across 20 islands.

The project, carried out on a design-and-build basis, involved the installation of water supply systems in 5 islands and sewerage systems in 15 islands. As part of the initiative, MWSC established water plants and related facilities to generate clean water, constructed storage tanks, and developed the main water pipeline network. Connections to households for both water and sewerage systems were also completed.

The islands where water supply systems have been installed include:

  • Haa Alif Muraidhoo
  • Shaviyani Feevah
  • Noonu Henbadhoo
  • Raa Innamaadhoo
  • Alif Alif Mathiveri

These developments mark a significant step forward in ensuring access to clean and safe drinking water for residents in these areas.

In addition to water supply infrastructure, MWSC established sewage pumping stations and provided sanitation and water testing equipment to 15 islands. The islands where both water and sanitation facilities have been provided are:

  • Haa Alif Vashafaru
  • Haa Alif Maarandhoo
  • Haa Alif Thakandhoo
  • Haa Dhaalu Hirimandhoo
  • Haa Dhaalu Kumundhoo
  • Shaviyani Goidhoo
  • Noonu Maafaru
  • Noonu Fodhdhoo
  • Baa Kamadhoo
  • Baa Maalhos
  • Lhaviyani Olhuvelifushi
  • Alif Dhaalu Kunburudhoo
  • Alif Alif Himandhoo
  • Alif Alif Feridhoo

These improvements are expected to significantly enhance the quality of life for residents by providing reliable sanitation and addressing critical water management challenges in these communities.

MWSC announced that the project was completed on schedule by the end of last year. The company attributed this success to the dedication and hard work of its team and partners.

Managing Director Abdul Matheen Mohamed expressed gratitude to everyone involved in the project, acknowledging their support in achieving this milestone.
