Superintendent of Police Ahmed Faseeh stated that recent improvements to traffic flow have significantly reduced accidents in Hulhumalé.

Speaking on the MMTV Bodu Khabaru programme, he emphasised ongoing efforts to improve road safety and alleviate traffic congestion in both Malé and Hulhumalé, with the goal of offering sustainable solutions to long-standing traffic challenges.

Faseeh noted that Hulhumalé has experienced significant population growth over the past year, leading to a sharp increase in daily commutes between Hulhumalé and Malé, which has contributed to a rise in traffic incidents.

Speaking about enhancements to major roads, Faseeh explained that these improvements, along with increased police presence and the strategic deployment of officers at key intersections and traffic lights, have been instrumental in streamlining traffic flow.

These measures, he added, have not only made morning commutes smoother but have also resulted in a tangible reduction in road accidents, fostering a safer and more efficient travel experience for residents.
