On the morning of January 6, the National Meteorological Centre warmly welcomed 150 sixth-grade students from Salahuddin School for an engaging and educational visit.

The visit provided the young learners with an introduction to the fundamentals of meteorology, with a particular focus on the distinctive environmental features of the Maldives. Students had the chance to explore the critical work undertaken by the Observatory and Forecasting teams, gaining insight into how weather patterns are monitored and predicted.

This initiative is to promote awareness of weather and climate issues, with a strong emphasis on engaging young people. Such activities aim to inspire future generations to become environmentally conscious citizens and to appreciate the vital contributions of meteorology to everyday life.

Welcoming school groups to meteorological facilities across the country remains an element of the National Meteorological Centre’s outreach programme.
