A collision involving a pickup truck and a car occurred at Velana International Airport on the morning of January 6, prompting an immediate response from the authorities.

The Maldives Police Service reported receiving an alert about the accident at 9:45 a.m., following which officers were swiftly dispatched to the scene. The car’s driver sustained injuries and was transported to Hulhumalé Hospital for medical attention. However, police have not disclosed details regarding the severity of the injuries.

A passenger seated in the rear of the car sustained minor injuries and received treatment at the airport clinic. Police confirmed that his condition was not serious.

According to an official statement, the collision occurred after the car struck a road divider, collided with a van, and subsequently hit the rear of the pickup truck.
