Maldives and UAE explore new avenues for cooperation

Maldives and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have engaged in discussions to enhance their cooperation across multiple sectors.
The talks took place during a recent visit by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Abdulla Khaleel, to the UAE.
Minister Dr Khaleel met with the UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, where they explored ways to deepen ties between the two nations. The discussions centred on key areas such as trade, tourism, fisheries, renewable energy, and transport.
Minister Dr Khaleel expressed gratitude to the UAE for its ongoing support in the Maldives' development. He highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts to strengthen trade and commerce, which were among the primary topics of the discussions.
The Foreign Ministry revealed that Minister Dr Khaleel is set to meet senior UAE officials to further explore opportunities for cooperation in various fields. His visit to the UAE follows a two-day official trip to India and was made at the invitation of Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
