Western Australia Governor’s spouse pays courtesy call on First Lady

The Spouse of the Governor of Western Australia, Mrs Darrilyn Dawson, paid a courtesy call on First Lady Madam Sajidha Mohamed at Mulee’aage during her visit to the Maldives on January 7, 2025.

The First Lady warmly welcomed Mrs Dawson and extended her best wishes for an enjoyable stay in the Maldives for her and Governor Chris Dawson. She expressed gratitude for the strong ties between the Maldives and Australia and highlighted the value of their ongoing cooperation.

Their discussion centred on the development of the education sector in both regions, focusing on expanding learning opportunities, fostering inclusive education, and enhancing access to education for children and girls. They also noted the increasing number of Maldivian students pursuing higher education in Australia, including those supported by the prestigious Australia Awards scholarships.

Mrs Dawson praised the First Lady’s dedication to her role and her significant contributions to advancing national health initiatives.

The meeting concluded with both women reaffirming their commitment to strengthening the partnership between the Maldives and Australia and expressing mutual appreciation for the collaboration between their nations.
