Maldives State Shipping (MSS) has announced two scholarship opportunities under its Kalaaseen programme, aimed at developing local talent in the maritime sector.

These scholarships offer diploma-level studies in marine engineering and nautical studies in Malaysia.

The eligibility criteria for applicants include passing O-level examinations in five subjects, being free from any health issues, and having no vision impairments.

The scholarship duration spans three years and four months, with successful candidates required to work for MSS for 18 months following the completion of their studies. 

Since its inception, MSS has prioritised the development of the maritime industry by not only enhancing operations but also investing in skilled professionals. This scholarship programme is another step towards creating a self-sustaining shipping sector in the Maldives.

The deadline to apply for the scholarships is is set for May 21.
