Maldivian Police Service have opened an investigation after discovering the body of a 41-year-old man in Male's Maafannu district on Tuesday morning, marking the latest in a series of unexplained deaths in the capital.

The man, identified as Hussain Ahmed from Maafannu Tharivillage, was discovered inside a house. Police have ordered a post-mortem to determine the cause of death.

This marks the fifth suspicious death in the Male' region within a month, following an unsettling pattern that began in early December. The first incident involved a 36-year-old man who was found dead on a Hulhumale' beach. Later in the month, on December 21, a 35-year-old man was discovered dead in a house in Galholhu. The following day, another death occurred when a 45-year-old man was found dead in the same district.
