Ooredoo is set to install air conditioning and renovate the Sheikh Qasim bin Al-Thani Mosque (Hulhumalé Bodu Miskiy) in Hulhumalé before Ramadan, in collaboration with Qatar Charity.
The agreement was signed in Doha on Tuesday night by Ooredoo Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Khalid Hassan M A Al-Hamadi and Qatar Charity Chief Marketing Officer Ahmed Fakhroo. Ooredoo Chairperson Fatima Sultan Al-Kuwari also attended the ceremony.
Al-Hamadi expressed hope that the renovations would benefit the community during Ramadan and beyond, adding that it was an honour to renovate Hulhumalé's oldest mosque.
The telecommunications company said work would begin shortly and promised to minimise disruption to worshippers during the renovation period.
The mosque, which opened in 2006, can accommodate more than 1,800 people.
