President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has committed to constructing an outdoor gym on Dhevvadhoo, following a meeting with the island’s Council members who raised a range of pressing issues.

Among the other concerns were the halt in efforts to tackle erosion, and the pressing need to upgrade the island’s health facilities.

Council members discussed the lack of progress on erosion control measures, calling for urgent solutions to protect the island’s coastline. The issue of the island’s health centre was also discussed, with the Council stressing the need for a state-of-the-art facility. They proposed upgrading the health centre into a fully functional hospital to better serve the community’s healthcare needs.

Another topic of concern was the availability of land for development and opportunities for income generation. The Council members also raised a request from the Women’s Development Committee, which sought the construction of a volleyball court on the island.

In response, President Dr Muizzu assured that solutions would be found for all the issues raised. He emphasised that the Government remains committed to addressing the island’s challenges and ensuring its sustainable development.

Accompanying the President on his trip, the Minister for the relevant portfolio briefed the Council on the latest developments concerning ongoing projects aimed at improving the island’s infrastructure and services.

President Dr Muizzu concluded the meeting by reaffirming his Administration’s commitment to supporting Dhevvadhoo and its residents, ensuring that their needs are met with practical, timely solutions.
